Register here for the next auditions.
Basically, admittance to the orchestra is open to everyone, applications from both students and non-students of the Ghent University are eligible. If, however, there is an abundance of applications for certain instruments, students are prioritised. The final decision will be taken through auditions.
The auditions
Everybody interested in joining the orchestra will have to participate in the auditions. Do not worry about the auditions for it has to be seen primarily as a first activity to get to know the orchestra and its members in a relaxed atmosphere. Next to a first get-to-know, the auditions will help the committee on the final placement.
For as smooth a proceeding as possible of the auditions, it is recommended to subscribe as early as possible. Please use this form.
Dates of the auditions can be found in the calendar.
Auditioning
Two days of auditions are held at the beginning of each term. An audition consists of three parts:
The rehearsals
All members are expected to attend the weekly rehearsals, starting the week after the auditions. As the orchestra has limited time to rehearse the program, members need to be present on time. If a member cannot be present at a rehearsal, he is expected to inform the secretary. If a member is absent too frequently, the committee has the right to deny participation at the concert.
The rehearsal scheme can be found here.
Training
Each semester an extended training is organized. Participation hereof is strongly recommended as the orchestra intensely rehearses the pieces and indispensable accents are put on the music. After the rehearsals there's time for other activities, making the training an unforgettable experience.
